How do I know if I need therapy?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, facing ongoing stress, anxiety, or depression, or if you simply want to understand yourself better, therapy can be beneficial. It’s a proactive step towards improving your mental health.

What issues can therapy help with?

Therapy can assist with a wide range of issues including, but not limited to, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, life transitions, grief, stress management, and personal growth.

Starting Therapy

How do I start therapy?

To schedule a session with me and my practice.  Please follow the following few simple steps.

  1. Go to my website (imatherapycenter.com)
  2. Click on the green schedule 15 minutes free consultation button on the homepage
  3. click new client
  4. Select if you want the free consultation or if you’re ready to move forward with doing a 1-hour psychiatric intake/evaluation
  1. Select if you want the session to be in person or virtual
  2. Select a time and date that works best for you from my current list of availability
  3. Enter the required patient information
  4. Send the session request
  5. Wait for me to confirm the session and email you necessary paperwork to complete for services with me and my practice.
  1. Complete and submit the paperwork through the online patient port before the session date and time.

You can also reach out via phone or email. My friendly staff can guide you through the process of setting up an initial session if you need help with this.

What should I expect in my first session?

In your first session, you’ll discuss your background, what brings you to therapy, and your goals for treatment. It’s a chance for you and I to get to know each other and establish a plan moving forward.

How long does each therapy session last?

Typically, therapy sessions last between 45 to 60 minutes. The length can vary based on the type of session and the therapeutic approach.

How often will I have sessions?

The frequency of sessions will be determined based on your individual needs and goals. Weekly sessions are common, but some people may meet more or less frequently.

Can I switch therapists if it’s not a good fit?

Absolutely. It’s important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. If you feel that you would be better served by a different therapist, I will accommodate your request respectfully and confidentially.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Will my information be kept confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a cornerstone of my practice. Your personal information and the contents of your sessions are kept private, with some legal exceptions which I will explain.

Costs and Insurance

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy varies depending on the services provided. We can discuss fees and payment options with you directly.

Do you accept insurance?

I accept most commercial insurances including CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care, Cigna, and Aetna as well as Medicare and Tricare. My staff can help determine if your insurance covers the services and assist with billing. Self-Pay patients are also welcomed.

After Therapy

How will I know when I’m done with therapy?

The decision to conclude therapy is made collaboratively between you and I, often when you feel you’ve achieved your goals or gained the tools you need to manage on your own.

What if I need to return to therapy?

Returning to therapy is always an option. Life brings continuous changes and challenges, and I’m here to support you through whatever comes your way.
